It has been one year since my last posting. As I started to post about my health issue with osteoarthritis last year, something stood in my way of writing. Me. I have been the obstacle in my way for most of my life. Finding excuses for not getting things done that I wanted to do. Consciously and sub-consciously finding rational reasons (of which there are none) for not doing it.
Yes, the health issue took its turn and I used a walker to gain strength as I walked twice daily in my driverway or in my home. Yes, it hurt but I knew if I sat that I would not gain the ability to walk again without help or pain. Yes, it was a long journey and still is long today. My recovery is not of a mental health issue (except that there are days I feel sad and want to sleep away the day), but of a physical and mental health issue. It is a life-saving issue. I have been recovering for 15 months now and each day is a challenge. There are some days that I am not able to work. My own business work has fallen as I have been tired and not inspired to continue on my quest to do what needs to be done. And, after I was able to walk again late in the fall, my own fears came crashing in my own mind. It took me a short time to realize that I was not good top anyone - myself nor my clients nor my friends.
Downsizing is what I did. There were friendships of a decade or more that I had to change direction, as the only onnection we had was the drama in their lives. Our own goals had shifted and there was no connection about really positive things in life. Friendship goes two ways and when friends choose not to call me, I have to look at the value of the friendship and decide if it is worth it. Yes, we are all busy but friendships are special bonds. And Ma Bell works both ways.
Then, I had to decide what family members were important to me. For years, my brother and I have not spoken, so there was no need to remove him from te list. He wasn't on there in the first place. You can choose your family - they do not have to be all biological! I love adopting family members!
Most of all, I had to adopt a new attitude towards life. It has taken me three months to understand that choices I made in the past are back again for me to make them right. No matter what te cost nor the challenge. This past year, I learned more than anything to walk in my truth and walk my talk more than ever. If I want to be a role model for my stepson and others behind me, I need to follow my own advice I give to my clients. Walk the truth. Even if it hurts.
Yes, there will be those I offend. Yes, there will be those whom think I still should do business with them without charge. Yes, there are those whom I have offended. Yes, there are those I have choosen to remove from my life. Yes, I have to make sure that at the end of the day I can feel happy with the decisions I have made. There are those I still need to talk to, those I still need to apoogize to, and those to whom I have to ask for forgiveness. In the end, it will be my choice to make it my time.
Food for thought........

Friday, March 17, 2017. There is synergy in the sound of all we do in life. Although this blog is about the Sounds of Synergy in my professional journey, this blog is the first explanation of why Sounds of Synergy was silent for months.
It is 2:30 am and I am up writing the first blog at the Sounds of Synergy I have written in the past several years. There isn't any reason why I have not written except for procrastination. I am a person of perseverance, not procrastination. Yet, during the past three years, it seems as if the second P word - procrastination - has been my goal, not pursing my dreams and making them a reality.
I am the only challenge in my way of dreams happening. Do you have that feeling? Do you want to start a business, expand existing business, write a book, speak or produce a record or film? You can do it. Begin today to do something small towards that goal.
If you want to buy a new car, go to a dealership or look online for the type of car you want to purchase. Once you begin, then the rest will fall into place. You can make it happen. It is up to you. Just as it is up to me; it is up to you.
December 24, 2016 was the turning point in my life. I found myself without any voice. The night before I had my voice at the Dollar General Bowl. The next day I had no voice for two weeks. January 5, 2017 came and I had my voice back. I went to Downtown Toastmasters Club meeting and spoke. Five days later, I woke up and could not walk on my left side. Chronic pain compounded my hip, knee and ankle. For several days, I spent crying and screaming at God and the universe for this occurrence in my life. What had I done to deserve this? Why me? Fears and thoughts of losing it all went through my mind. I was alone here in Mobile. There is nothing I can do I thought. I was alone. I forgot that God was right here with me, next to me, listening all the time. He was listening to my whining and fears and complaining.
Today, it is two months since the incident began. Thanks to my intuitive friends and to my friends here in Mobile and the prayers of many, I am on the road to adapting and making this incident adapt to my life. I was ready to return to Ohio. But, I didn't know how I was going to get there. During these past few weeks, I have had to let go of the guild I felt about choices I made in my past years, choices I made that are now back in my life for me to resolve the right way, and for the choices I made to not carry my children to full term. (Yes, this is a fact that I have kept from my family and friends for over forty years. The only two people who knew are not gone but kept part of the secret they knew from my parents and family.)
Someone once said that a person's memoirs only sell to their family and friends. Yet, my experiences and choices are such that anyone can relate to the experience and the choice I made at that point in my life when I made the choice. Now, looking back, I sometimes wish things had been different, but they aren't. I wish the choice I had made was different, but it isn'the choices I had made. t. And, today, I am the most authentic person I can be. There is no reason not to be open and honest about the decisions I made. My hope is that those who read the experiences will gain some insight into the behavior exhibited, and how those behaviors influenced my path today.
I am back on track in writing, and will not let this posting go without more to come..... Sounds of Synergy will return on Monday, March 20.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Yes, I have not posted since May 2014. Yes, I have procrastinated in writing. That is done as of this writing. I will be writing weekly on my Sounds of Synergy blog on Sunday and sharing it on Monday via social media.
The Synergy of Happiness can be found in my home, as I have downsized my office files through 44 years of client projects, samples, workshops, coaching notes, grant proposals, research articles, etc. and my office will be cleaned within the next two weeks of over 44 years of carrying stuff with me.
I have many stories to share with you and will do so throughout the next few weeks and months. Through meditation this weekend, I found white circles within a black background and black circles twirling through a white background. I was not sure of the meaning nor the guidance I am seeking; now I am sure of the meaning and direction.
Last Monday, I talked to Ali Rodriquez, an intuitive coach, and from our conversation I created the following mantras (which are now on my whtieboard and I read as I type):
I am standing in my own power.
I am a woman of worth and value.
I claim Sher back today.
I claim my Eternal home.
I am clear about each moment of my life - all 31,536,000 seconds per year.
I claim my writing and speaking business to be profitable.
I am taking care of Sher.
I stop the ripple effect right now.
I monetize my gifts and talents today.
God is my power and clarity.
I do something new each day.
WOOHOO! I have freed my pelvis from the pain of not honoring the truth for the past six weeks. There is still much work I have to do and decisions to make about those choices I did not make that are not coming back into my life for me to remove the fear and do what I need to do.
For the past years, I have felt as if I left my friends and colleagues down as I was not walking the talk that I share with my clients and that they expect of me. During the past two months, the spiritual and emotional energies were recharged. Now, I am ready to make strong choices about my professional and personal storytelling.
Stay tuned..... it will be something you won't forget.

THE REVOLUTION
Today is May 5. I am posting this because a revolution is about to unfold on the web. I have using my energy to create and write speech topics for my new venture beginning in 2015. I am returning to professional speaking once my autobiography "59 Voices: Essays of My Life" is released.
My entrepreneurial lifestyle has given me much passion, love for what I do, and accomplishments that I might never have achieved. Of course, the path was an oval - moving up to a pinnacle and then slowly going downward and remaining stationery before the accession again.
Life has had its share of 40 year friendships with my girlfriends, meeting celebrities of all caliber in entertainment, sports and industry, serving on national committees and making a difference in someone's life or community, or just influencing change in the smallest way.
I thank each of you who have been involved in my life in some short or long moment, and who will continue to be there with me on this journey.
"Boomers Revolution" newsletter will be released in new form in two weeks - focusing on individuals who have decided to take the entrepreneurial lifestyle instead of other paths, who are working and who are making a difference in their new rewirement.
Share this with us as we promote our legacy journey.

Sounds of Tips in Writing
Today, I was working with several young writers who tried to explain to me that it didn't matter how they abbreviated a state as there were several ways to do so. So, I thought I would have them research their own answers. Lo and behold, dailywritingtips.com came to my rescue, not theirs, and this was in my email. So, I wanted to share it with you in case you have the state name phobia in writing.Your Corporate FireFighter in Peace,SherState Names and Abbreviations - DailyWritingTips |

How should you treat references to
states? The form depends on which style guide you adhere to and why the state
is being referenced. Details about how to refer to states follow.
The Chicago Manual of Style and The
Associated Press Stylebook agree on one thing: When referring to
a state on its own, spell the state name out (“California became a state in
1850”). However, when referring to a city and the state in which it is
located, although Chicago recommends retaining the spelled-out version of the
state name (“San Diego, California”), AP style calls for abbreviating the
state name (“San Diego, Calif.”) if it consists of more than six letters. (Chicago also has
abbreviations if you insist, but they don’t always match AP’s style.)
The AP style abbreviations arbitrarily
range in length from two to six letters, and all two-word names are
abbreviated with the initials, such as
N.Y. for “New York” — with the exception of West Virginia’s
abbreviation, which for some reason is rendered W.Va. (Note that AP style omits state names
for a specified list of cities considered familiar enough that the state in
which they are located need not be mentioned.) In headlines, the periods are
omitted.
However, when giving an address,
or in tables or other uses in which space is limited, use the US Postal
Service’s symbol system, which consists of a two-letter abbreviation in which
both letters are always capitalized and no periods are used (for example, NY for “New York”).
Other style handbooks have their
own guidelines, so, if you are writing or editing for a particularly company
as a staff member or a freelancer, determine which resource is considered the
authority on state abbreviation.
Note, too, that abbreviation of
country names is rare and not recommended. US
and UK are
frequently used as nouns in informal contexts, but the names should be
spelled out except as adjectives — “the US response,” for example, or “the
UK’s role” — and Chicago
recommends omitting periods in these cases, as is advised for all capitalized
abbreviations.

SYNERGY OF A CHALLENGE
Today is October 1. Yes, it has been two months to the date since I last posted. What has caused me once again to procrastinate and not write each day? I have been blogging and posting on Facebook but realize that it is time to make this blog, Sounds of Synergy, work in a better way.
Thanks to Michelle Scism who created the Ultimate Blog Challenge, I am going to begin this blog and continue during October to post. She has inspired me and given me the challenge to continue my postings.
This month is a great month - it is my birthday month. I started to party today. I spent the day with the AT&T Uverse installer who helped get my internet and television changed from Comcast. It was great to have a person who was so happy and really liked what he did. I am now online and back at writing.
This morning, I spent time working on a speech for Toastmasters that I have to give tomorrow. After I had the points of the speech outlined, it was apparent that the stats I needed I could not get as my Internet was down. So, now I will work on another speech project. I have two more to go before I get my Competent Communicator Award. If you want to learn how to become more confident in speaking, this organization is certainly the most rewarding and educational and cost effective program in the country. The Downtown Mobile group I belong to is such a happy group. I miss not going each week. When I don't go, there is a part of me missing. I have met some new friends and reconnected with old friends.
Today has been a peaceful day despite all that is happening in the world. Peace is certainly something that you choose and not something that is chosen for you. Today was a day for learning. Here are tidbits of what I learned today:
- If you have not been courageous and stepped out in your life, then do not comment on mine.
- Influencing one more person to consider something you said or wrote is helping one more person to open their mind and hearts to the possibility of something new.
- Call your friends daily to tell them you love them.
- Staying in the office to manage the day is a good thing.
- Creativity comes when you least expect it.
- Change your way of thinking. Listen to what you are saying to yourself. Are you stuck or moving forward?
So, now, it's time for meditation and taking care of Serena, my cat. Her brain disorder is a day to day and sometimes moment to moment part of my day.
Peace and joy to you,
Sher

SYNERGY OF GREATNESS
Synergy of greatness.
This sounds like someone's alter ego coming forth and letting the world know how great they are. Yes, you could say that. I will not say that.
To me, it is the synergy of what using one's gifts and talents can create while serving others. It is not standing on a mountain top and shouting to the world how wonderful someone is, but it could be. The last time I stood on a mountain, the only person who heard what I had to say was a mountain goat. And of course, the birds, the eagles, and the universal spirits.
SOUNDS OF GREATNESS CREATE SYNERGY OF GREATNESS.
This is the QUIETNESS of what we do each day, with each person we meet or talk to, with the challenges of life that occur, with the off-times of "Why is this happening to me?" we might ask ourselves when something occurs that we did not expect to happen, or God and the universe gives us an opportunity that may challenge us but make us stronger, or a miracle occurs and we give gratitude.
The SYNERGY of Greatness comes in those moments when we quiet our minds to listen to the silence and to hear what we need to hear, or when we love unconditionally through our actions of a smile or taking food to a neighbor, or helping a child with homework or going to visit someone in a nursing home who may not have any visitors or call someone you have not heard from in a long time.
So go do something great and create synergy.
Peace and joy today.
