Sounds of Poetry

Where Was I In the Middle of It?

by Sherrie L. Graham

She sleeps, waiting to transition.
And, you still want to control her.
Yet, you do what is only good for you.
During your life with her, you ignored.
When others saw and cried out for help.
You stayed in denial that anything was wrong.
Your son was always welcomed.
Your eldest was and is a stranger.
Why did you not take time?
Your need for power was within only you.
Both of you deserved each other.
Why make others around you unhappy?
Yet, you did knowingly.
If it wasn't about you or her,
Then it didn't matter.
If you didn't have to see it, you denied it.
Your own selfishness has caused this rife.
And, you don't see it.
And neither does not son or grandsons.
You chose to be abusive.
Others saw how you treated me.
And tried to treat me the same way.
I chose not to let it happen.
Where was I in the middle of it?

Synergy of Morning

Today is Tuesday, and somehow the morning hours I use in the AM were missed today.  The energies around me were keeping me asleep and not allowing my body to completely absorb the daily energies of the early morning hours.

Yes, I was up later than usual but that still doesn't keep me from waking up and getting my prayer and meditations in.  The alarm on my cell phone didn't even go off.  My cell phone techno angels turned it off during the early hours they were around me.

So, now I am up and headed for rain time - the shower.  God really helped mankind when he gave the thought of a shower to someone to invent.  As much as I love taking a shower outdoors, the cold of the North does not a good shower make.

Many changes are happening in my life and I am grateful for them all.  Opportunities are happening and I am thankful for them.

Now, the time has come for me to put some photos in for you to see and let this be a photo journal of mornings.

Clouds are beautiful to photograph.  Oh, great idea.  The synergy of clouds.    So beautiful. So quiet.  So noisy.  So great a place for the angels to sit and watch us when they are not walking with us.

In November, I will be adding interviews with authors from across the country.  If you are an author and would like to be included, please let me know,  If you have an e-book, self published or print hard copy, tell me about you.     Email me at thesynergysolutionsgroup@gmail.com

Namaste,

Synergy of October

Sleep comes quietly as the leaves on the trees turn colors of orange, yellow and gold.  My body tells me that I must sleep now so it can get well.  The leaves float to the ground to sleep and dissolve into the universe so that the trees may sleep during the winter and blossom in the spring.

For today, it is necessary for me to listen to my body.  I don't need to listen to anything but my feet and my reflexes, my hands, my intuition.  For now, I am going to sleep.

What are you doing to take care of your body?  What are you doing to stay stressed?  I took a health test today and had to answer seven questions on stress.  I told the interviewer I don't have stress in my life; they are just actions that I take care of.  She didn't know how to answer those seven questions.

Here is something I wrote for an article on staying stressed.

5 Wonderful Way to Stay Stressed

Everyone complains about being stressed out.  Yet, when one attempts to teach techniques on managing the behavior we know as ‘stress,” it appears that those who are being taught manifest a rational, logical explanation about the stressor, what it does to them or the impact is has on their environment.  And, of course, they are the obstacles that keep them from implementing the techniques to make their life less stressed.

So, here are some clinically proven methods that you can enjoy using in your daily routine to help you keep stress alive!

1.            Give exercise a rest.

This activity is a waste of your time and talent.  Take the time you would use in physical movement, including cleaning the house, and worry about what you should have done, should do, or create outcome consequences of things to come that haven’t arrived yet.

2.            Gain weight.

Eat anything you want to eat.  Do not read labels.  That is a waste of time.  It is not important if the sodium content in your snack or processed food is high.  It will not raise your cholesterol.  Stay 25 pounds over your recommended weight.  Why waste time on getting those fat cells off?  It only means that you may have a chance to live to see another ten years.  So what!

3.            Drop your social circle.

Stay at home by yourself.  Isolate yourself with your work or sleep.  Do your   friends a favor and let them know that you don’t have time for them.  Return calls from your friends at least three days later.  If all else fails, avoid them.

4.            Stop laughing.

Take all criticisms and comments seriously.  Everyone is out to get you and you need to pay attention to what they are saying in front or you and behind your back to others. Staying stressed is no laughing matter.  Don’t take it lightly.

5.            Procrastinate LOUDLY!

Always do things at the last minute – shopping, partying, getting a report in, being late for meetings, getting kids ready for school and drive to school, meeting your spouse or partner for a date, doctors’ appointments, taking a walk in the park, and the list keeps on going.  You will have so much more time to be and stay stressed when you put things off to the last minute.

And, if these don’t get you started, make up your own list.  Just remember to not do it on time, write it down, share it with friends and family, and most importantly, laugh it off when you are late and make an excuse.

And here is my latest poem.

Power is in the Mind
Last week, my divorce papers were final.
He still tried to have the power.
He still tried to insult me he thought he could win.
He didn't win the power is mine.
Empowerment is a choice and I chose it.
His power is only in his mind.
Height has nothing to do with power or control.
His hatred of women comes from hating his mother.
A woman who doesn't let go of her son.
And he writes he hates her.
He wants a mother and a sex partner not a wife.
He doesn't care about their needs, just his own.
He went to another woman within days of my leaving.
He said I left him to take care of his son.
My power is to be at peace and to put the past behind me.
My power is to help others through my story and words
Not to choose a mama's boy or someone who disrespects women.
My power is to smile and to pray for him.
I am empowered with words and at peace.

October has many social concerns - domestic violence, breast cancer and the list goes on.  My prayer for today is that you stand up for yourself, express your opinion and make sure you are authentic.  Bullying is not acceptable behavior from anyone.

Namaste and peace,

Synergy of Thoughts and Things

WOW!  That is all that I can say - so many opportunities have been brought into my universe.  I have to be able to consider each one and its impact on my business and my lifestyle.  They are all positive business relationships that could evolve into much financial wealth. The challenge now is to consider how I may assist in the development and implementation of these opportunities.

As I am not ready to share them with anyone, they will remain in my brain until I can talk about them.  Right now, my new family member, Serepidpity or Serene, sleeps quietly on my client chair as I type.  She just looked up at me with her gold eyes and is pretending to sleep, as I type words of joy for my readers.

My office is so organized but the stack of 'stuff' to file and place in my daytime gets larger.  The number of events and happenings to cover are increasing.  So, be it. I am working on speeches, workshops, editorial calendars, writing blogs and articles, reading, and twirling.  The twirling is what I do inbetween all things possible to keep my day light and happy.

Ah, Serene is up and probably getting ready to eat.  She has been a family member since Sunday.  It is difficult to realize someone else is here, especially when I have been used to leaving the doors open as I load my car each day.  She found her way out on Monday when my friend Sonja stopped by.  I turned around and grabbed her in time as she charged off the porch and under the house.

She has me trained already.  I forget to put a bit of food into her bowl before I retire and she sits quietly and meows in a soft and feminine manner.  So, at 2 a.m. I am up and giving her food.

So much for who's the boss?\

Before I go, I want to thank Dennis Knicely,. editor of www.healingnews.net and Sandy McCloud, my fabulous reflexologist and Young Living colleague for their alternative therapies that helped me get well.  The food poisoning has left the building or rather the temple or my body.  I feel so energized and relieved.  I don't want to see any meat again.

Gotta run, and I wish you peace and joy.

In loving namaste,

May you fly as high as the eagle.  May your dreams become your reality.  May your laughter fill the hearts of all those you meet.  God bless our country.

Sounds of Keyboard Clicks for Newsletter Launch

Today, at 1:00 p.m., we launched Sea Oats Newsletter for writers from Key West to Mexico and along the Gulf Coast.  This is a digital publication that is subscription only.  Our launch edition is the inspiration from entrepreneurs and writers, CeCe Redmond and myself.  It became apparent that the area needed a way to promote writers and to provide a mechanism to talk about the industry of writing.  It is our hope that the publication will become something people save and use as they are beginning or continuing their writing journey.

 seaoatswriters@gmail.com

We have also made it economically possible for authors to promote and advertise their books through an advertorial feature that they can use for their marketing piece, digitize for web and other social media tools. Authors who are on limited budgets, whether they self-publish or have written contracts with national publishers are also looking for cost-effective tools to market their products.

Our email distribution list, including media, is close to 1,500 and growing.  We do not sell our list, but use it to help promote classes, meetings and information on the Web.

I want to thank CeCe Redmond, a very intuitive writer and thinker, for being my co-pilot in this venture.  Stay tuned for more from us, as we are launching a new digital publication for women in January 2013.  Thanks to Cathie Myer for her work in getting articles researched and written.  Angels be among us!

This issue features Paranormal.  Enjoy and come be a part of this new publication. I still have articles to write and a new email list to create.

Until tomorrow, I pray for peace and joy in the world,

Synergy of Silence

It is nighttime and the loud country music sounds coming from my neighbors is no longer overwhelming my television sound.  All is still.  It is so wonderful to sit and listen to the silence and hear what it says to you.  This night take time to sit outside and be still.  God says to be still and listen.  The universe says many things when we are still and sit in the silence.

For tonight, the sounds of silence is synergy.

Synergy of Self

Today is the 7th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and its marked incidents on the coast of Mississippi and Alabama.  I don't include Louisiana as the storm did not land in New Orleans.  The aftermath of the storm in New Orleans came from their levies not being able to handle the water that hurled itself over the embankments and flooded the entire city.  So many media and government entities, including the citizens of Louisiana, have touted their horrible tragedies based on Hurricane Katrina.  Yet, the storm did not go there.

Ask the people of Waveland, MS, where the storm first set ground.  Ask the people along the Gulf Coast region whose homes were destroyed by the storm, where entire communities were gone. They have been the forgotten ones over these last six years.  And, yet, the media still can't remember anything about Hurricane Katrina that makes sense.  Mississippi is more than a 'land mass.'  The Gulf Coast people are honest and hard working individuals, who love the land and their community, who are kind and considerate, who are sad with you and happy with you, and smile just to say hello.  They deserve more credit than they have gotten from the media this week.

However, during this time I have taken the chance to reflect on my life - my choices, my family, my friends, my path, my journey - and to remember where and how it all began.  This is where I am today.  As I was going through a box of San Francisco 49er collectible memorabilia to send to a new 49er friend in California, I found some clips and photos from my youth. A photo to help promote the county 4-H, a photo from a day in the park as a playground supervisor, and I look at who I was and realized that the facial expressions did not make sense.  The photos are funny in nature and I wanted to share them with you, to remind you to remind yourself to remember your childhood, the days when you were involved with others and what you did.

Oh, yes, this is where my career in journalism and self-promotion began.  One of the first concepts in journalism is public relations.  I learned early on - before classes - that self-promotion did get you column inches in the local newspaper.  Each time I was elected to a committee or organization, or volunteered for something, I would write my own press release and send the information, along with a photo, to my local newspaper.  I now have column inches from my first PR gig.  It worked then; it works now.

Our youth do not get enough promotion for the great things they do.  We need to tell them daily how much they are loved for their enthusiasm and community service.  Would it not be great if the local news media had a special section that honors and promotes the talents and gifts of service of our young people?  Would it not be cool to talk about something so happy?  What a world of difference it would be.

On that note, I share with you my photos and will write a short note about each event.  What have you done with your youth?  Take it off the shelf.  Remember who you were then; honor it.  Remember who you are not; honor you.  Share who you were with your children and grandchildren.  You have a story to tell.  Tell lit today.

This photo dates me. It was 1960s and I was helping the Muskingum County 4-H promote a new program.  The two men I remember are Charlie Knotts (left) and Ivan Archer (second left) and me (with the bow) and an unidentified man.  Charlie Knotts was my neighbor and the 4-H Extension Director.  We were at a conference and I remember they needed someone to help in the photo.  I volunteered and photo was taken.  Didn't I look cute with my pink dress and hairbow?  Yes, I remember what I wore that night.  It was a two piece blouse and skirt!  Oh, yes, the glasses were the hottest thing that year!  No way!  Oh, yes, my hair was dish water blonde - that ugly color that didn't even have a pretty descriptive name.  I want to see Crayola Crayons make a color in that hue!!!!!

Now, we move onto 1970.  I spent two summers as a playground supervisor for the Zanesville City Parks & Recreation Department.  It was fun, as I got to create activities for kids of all ages.  This was taken during a story telling time.  No, I was not angry.  There was a small boy who was not being nice and saying bad things while the story was being read.  The photographer caught me giving him 'my look.'  Yes, I had the look even then.  And it worked well for me in later years as an educator.  By then, my hair was blonde and I had spent one year in college.  That job started just weeks after the May 4, 1970, social revolution incident at Kent State University.  Unfortunately, I was to leave that job by the end of June, as I had been threatened by a 21 year old man who served time and was not to be around children.  The word 'sex offender' was not in any vocabulary.  He threatened to bring a gun to the playground and take care of me.  I didn't want to leave my job as I loved it, but the Parks Director and my mother thought it best.  I remember thinking that I was not afraid of him; his threat didn't bother me.  Who knew?  So, here is the photo that was so comical when it came out that week.  Oh, well, at least my hair was straight.  I had wavy hair and it took time in the morning with BIG rollers to get it straight.

And, then there was college.  I was really happy to be involved in campus activities and my sorority, Gamma Sigma Sigma, a service sorority.  And, I was proud of volunteering my time for campus events. So, I wrote the release and sent it to the local newspapers.  It was printed in two local papers.  This was just one of many that I wrote during college to help promote my activities.  I realize that many people think self-promotion may not be good, but throughout the years I have learned that you need to be proud of what your gifts and talents are. of the service you give to your community, and that it is ok to talk about what you do, and have done.  My community involvement and accomplishments have helped in my career path and have helped me in my journey as a community advocate and activist.  Leaving a legacy of volunteerism and commitment to service is my goal.  And so it is.

There are so many more memories that I have set aside as I am writing my book and will share it later blogs.  For now, remember to remember.  It is fun.  Life is like hair color - trying new colors and new things creates a variety in life - and 'variety is the spice of life.'  So, get out there and experience new things.  Do what you want to do but keep telling yourself you can't do it.  YES YOU CAN.

Do something different today.  Do something to bring the Synergy of Self to yourself.

Namaste and Ahimsa,

Sher

Synergy of Football

What fun I had yesterday at the SEC Beachfest in Gulf Shores, AL.  Not only was the water and the sunshine inspirational and giving me a feeling of sheer peace, but it was fun to talk to friends and meet new people who are SEC football fans.  I will finish my story by tomorrow and post it.  It was really fun to hear how and why people are football fans for their favorite schools.  It also gave me insight into the fact that many of these people visit Gulf Shores on a regular basis and love the area.

It was a late night and had to get a new camera to see if it will work.  So, hopefully today more photos and more copy.  Take care.

Peace and Joy,

This is the thought for the day = enjoy this day that God and the universe has given to you.  It is made just for you.  Be in gratitude for friends, family and all that happens to you..

Synergy of Sleep

On Tuesday, I drove to Tuskegee, AL round-trip to bring a friend's daughter home.  Although it was a day long journey, the end result is that the daughter is with her mother and sister now and starting school where she should be.   The passengers slept most of the trip so I had time to my thoughts and prayers and silent singing.   By evening, my body was shouting to me for sleep.  So, I have taken the time these past 24 hours to do just that - sleep.

When I returned from Toastmasters meeting on Wednesday, my body was not shouting but silently pushing me to dreamland.  So, off I went to my second wisdom and seventh level of sleep.  Today,  I am back to normal and feeling much healthier.  My body had not been properly nutritioned during this time, so that made the difference when I ate a new chicken and corn recipe from my crock pot last night.  I placed a can of corn in the bottom of the pot, and then layered four chicken breasts on top.  However, I used yogurt to marinate the chicken with and three spices - garlic, lime and chia.  The chicken was so moist and had a pleasant sweet taste to it that enhanced the spices.

For today, it is a synergistic day with lots of activity and business to take care of between here and Biloxi.  So, this ends the blog and will write more tonight.

Synergy to you,

Sher

Synergy Muffin Minute

MONDAY MUFFIN MINUTE

This one is reprinted from an email I received from 10 Million Clicks for Peace email today.

Welcome back Sher.

Love is said to be the most potent force in the Universe, yet we are not taught what it is, how it affects us, what it can do, how to use it, or how to fill every minute of your day and your entire environment with it. These topics are much more than we can provide you in a single issue, so we'll be returning to this subject many times.
Today's Wisdom
Find something you love, and focus your
free will on building and enhancing that.

The creation of 10 Million Clicks For Peace is a perfect example of what happens when you focus your free will on something you love. As you may know, this project came about because of my concern for two friends who were on opposite sides of a war zone (Lebanon-Israel). I could not reach my friends by email or by phone, and bombs were falling on one of their cities.

So at 3:30am in the morning, worried about my friends, I asked the Universe what I could do to bring peace to the world, and the immediate response was 10 Million 'Votes' For Peace. I knew it was an Internet project, but not how I could achieve it.

I was spending most of my time lying down (a result of a spine injury and 5 back surgeries). How could a guy in bed possibly make the kind of difference that needed to be made?

I focused my love for two friends on what I could do, and ultimately.10 MillionClicksForPeace. came into being. www.10millionclicksforpeace.org

My reason for telling you this story is not for any sort of self-aggrandizement. On the contrary, while I certainly worked to help the project along, over 100 people were needed to build what you see. I provided some focused love, and that inspired other people to focus their love. People stopped their lives and businesses. They donated software. They donated time. When we had to pay for services, the services were freely given and we were permitted to defer payments for many, many months without being asked when we could pay. We touched people's lives.

The power of focused love is phenomenal. It can get things done that otherwise would not be possible. And in the process, some amazing things can happen. My spine condition, for example, has improved to the point that I am now mostly vertical (conveniently giving us a great headline...Man lying down stands up for peace).

What could happen in your life if you spent your time focusing your love?

Let's take a look at 4 profound effects you can use to create greater beauty in your life through the power of love, as expressed by our esteemed authors.

I am pleased you have joined us again.

Many blessings,

Julian Kalmar, Founder
